Vince Gill gives emotional acceptance to CRS honor

Listen to Vince Gill on iHeartRadio

Vince Gill admits he didn't know what to say in accepting his latest honor. The singer is this year's recipient of the Country Radio Broadcasters' 2014 Career Achievement Award.

Gill became emotional during the presentation, as he shared how grateful he is for having the chance to make music for a living.  He said he can still remember the first time he heard one of his songs on the radio, and it gave him "such hope."

Vince added that it's not just a moment he'll never forget -- it's a feeling he still gets every time he hears his music on the radio.  The country star also said he believes his latest work is his best yet, and he has no intention to stop writing or recording songs anytime soon.

Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris presented Vince with the award.  In addition to expressing their appreciation and admiration, they performed in Gill's honor.  They teamed up to sing "Go Rest High on That Mountain," which Rodney called one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Gill received his award during the Country Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which took place in Nashville Tuesday night.
